Recipe help: I have a large quantity of fake "maple-flavored" syrup (don't ask...) that I want to use up. I don't eat?

Recipe help: I have a large quantity of fake "maple-flavored" syrup (don't ask...) that I want to use up. I don't eat meat or dessert. I do eat fish and shellfish.

Recommendations? Extra points for your old family tried and true recipe rather than a link to a recipe site or something you've never actually tried. Thanks!

Cool...an interesting opportunity to make a big batch....Barbecue Sauce There are two major ingredients in barbecue sauce one is VINEGAR and the other is something sweet. Take you tried and true BBQ sauce recipe that includes vinegar and use equal part(s) maple syrup...usually when you make the sauce "normally" the vinegar aroma is pretty strong - I bet with the maple syrup addition the house will be a great place to be! THE BEST is to use a lobster pan or the simmering and cooking down.

AND you old ketchup bottles to store and use to squeeze on all that BBQ! .

Pudding You can use it to make a pudding. I have made this before with maple flavored pancake syrup and it works fine too. I didn't use the pecans when I made it and it was still pretty good.2 envelopes unflavored gelatin 1 cup maple flavor syrup 2 cups milk 1 cup heavy whipping cream 1 cup pecans toasted and chopped 30 vanilla wafer cookies, crushed In 2 quart saucepan evenly sprinkle gelatin over 1/3 cup water.

Let stand 1 minute. Heat over low heat stirring 2 to 3 minutes until gelatin completely dissolves. Do not boil.

Remove from heat. Stir in maple syrup. Pour milk in to medium bowl.

With wire whisk stir in gelatin mixture until blended. Set bowl of gelatin mixture in to a larger bowl of ice water. With rubber spatula stir gelatin mixture until it gets very thick; about 15 minutes.

Remove gelatin mixture from bowl of water. Beat cream until stiff peaks form. Fold gelatin mixture and pecans in to whipped cream until evenly blended.

Sprinkle half of cookie crumbs over bottom of shallow 2 1/2 quart glass dish. Top with pudding mixture. Sprinkle with remaining crumbs.

Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight .

You can add a little fresh minced garlic and a bit of lemon, and use it to glaze salmon fillets. I've tried that and it's pretty good. I'm sure you could use it to glaze shrimp as well.

If you like a tangier glaze, add some dijon mustard and soy sauce. I've done that with honey, but syrup would certainly be a reasonable substitute. Don't use it, if it is new give it to a food shelf, if not toss it There is no reason to use the fake stuff when real maple syrup is so much better. You could give it to someone who prefers it, or just make a huge mess of pancakes and invite all the neighborhood kids over. But why eat something you don't like?

Every use I can come up with would be better with real maple syrup so I can't make any recommendations of recipes.

Bathe In It Think about it, you could at least swim in it for a while. And then the next time someone asks you if you've ever swam in maple-flavored syrup, you could say yes and watch as they react in amazement.
