I agree, nursing jobs will always be around. Nurse practitioners do make a lot more money, but they do not do bedside nursing. However, they do have other responsibilities that I think would be interesting.
Sadly in the hospital many nurses are doing more managerial work and the aids and LPNs are getting to do the hands on nursing. The last job I had before retiring was very frustrating for that very reason. I was sent from my department to go to other departments in the hospital to inspect them to see if they were compliant for the hospital inspection by the Joint Commission who accredits hospitals.
That was not my job description. I was hired as an RN in Radiation Oncology to take care of patients, but on many occasions I found I was doing "administrative" type work, which I hated. That is one reason I decided to retire early.
The hospital was more concerned about being compliant than actual patient care. As an example, a closet in a hospital cannot have anything on a shelf within 18 inches of the ceiling. So that is just one of the things I was looking for when I had to go inspect another department.
Not exactly why I went into nursing.... Sorry for complaining, but that is what nursing is coming to in some hospitals. It's still a great profession.
Yes. People will always get sick and with more and more people getting older and needing Heath Care, jobs in the Health Care industry are many and need to be filled, there will always be a need for good nurses.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
