Remember when MTV's The Real World was good and tried to help people out? What happened?

It seemed like in the beginning, the show was helping young people figure out their lives... deicde what they really wanted to do... and now it just seems like a 3-month bender. Who can hook up with the most people, who can hook up with people first, who can get someone else naked in the hot tub (i'm sure thre will be one). I haven't watched the show very much at all for the last several seasons, but I remember the first season really well.

If I wanted to see as much contrived drama as is on the show now, i'd skip my lunchbreak to go watch Days Of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless. The Real World pioneered reality television, but seems to have degenerated into something akin to that mysterious sticky stuff you can't get off your shoe, and you try to ignore it, but every time you take a step, your shoe sticks a little bit, so you can't completely forget about it. In my opinion that was the beginning of the downfall ov tv .

1 I was thinking about that recently. I think Paris was the last season I could stomache, after that I couldn't even tell the housemates apart. They used to go out of their way to cast unique individuals and now it seems like they do just the opposite.

I can't watch anything on MTV anymore, it makes me scared for our future LOL. I must be getting old:-O .

2 I definitely agree. I think Boston (1997? ) was the last season I watched. It just seemed to get worse and worse with each season, especially as they blatantly chose housemates who would have the greatest chance to clash/disagree/etc. I would say that I just got too old for it, but I was the age of most of the housemates at the time.

I truly can't believe it's continued this long.

Now..it sucks and not just because I am "old".

Angrycanadian replied to post #3: 4 I can't remember when it first aired, but one of my fondest memories from childhood was when my parents first started to leave my brother and I home alone (I was 8 he was 12). The tv would go on as soon as we heard the garage door close and it would be switched off as soon as the garage door opened and by the time they came in the door we would be innocently reading books together on the couch. The videos that were popular at the time were Aerosmith's Living on the Edge, Rod Stewart Forever Young, Don't Worry Be Happy, Welcome to the Jungle, and my personal favorite: Wild Thing!

Woohoo! I believe there was also a show on then called Remote Control that we loved but I can't remember what happened on the show.

I think racism is 100% real in churches. Do you agree with people in this world that racism has 0% foundation? " "Looking for a book that I can't remember the title of... Help!" "there was a movie I remember as a kid, they used to kidnap people and plant them;green people...Any help?

" "What do you remember about the television show, "The Electric Company"? " "Do you remember the television series Dark Shadows?" "I can't remember the name of this movie. Can anyone help me?

" "Can anyone help me? I can't remember the name of this children's book" "I can't remember the name of this movie. Can anyone help me?

" "What is a good way to remember what happened in life of 1998/1999?" "How do fractals help solve real world problems?

I can't remember the name of this children's book.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
