Jesse Jackson is like the man with a hammer, darling - to him, everything looks like a nail. There is still racism in America, there's no doubt, but the racism we see now is nothing compared to the racism that Jesse started out facing, and that he's geared to fight. His whole life has been focused on that one issue, and, in part due to his work, he has resolved that issue to the extent that he has made himself kind of redundant.
He's not a nuanced man - not like some other civil rights leaders, like John Lewis, who have been able to translate opposition to racism to an even larger picture - so he's not able to modulate himself when modulation is called for. His lack of nuance makes him unable to recognize other forms of bigotry, including his own, and it makes him incapable of recognizing when he has gone too far. I respect Jesse Jackson for his role in overcoming the institutionalized racism this country practiced back in the day, but when he does stuff like this, I get sad because it makes him look like a clown.
(((AAM))).
Sure, if it is something that will not make him money or put him on tv/print news then it is not about race. He is a glory hound. He is using racism to sell himself.
What is funny is that by doing this people are looking at silly crap e.g. LeBron being a runaway slave and not real racism issues.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
