I'd say at first that RG3 will have more pressure. That's because the Redskins are assumed to have a playoff caliber team that just needed a good QB. He'll also be playing in probably the toughest division in the NFL with the likes of the Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys.
And Shanahan is known as a Super Bowl winning coach. So some may blame if they fail on RG3 rather than Shanahan. Although Shanahan's job will likely be on the line soon because it has already been a year or two and he's failed to turn the team around.
Over time though, Luck will have far more pressure on him. Colts fans will give him a temporary grace period because even Peyton started his first year 3-13 and they know the Colts lost much of their talent. However, this is a team that is used to going to the playoffs every year for 9 years straight and normally winning at least 12 games per year with Peyton Manning.
Heck they wanted to fire Caldwell the very year after he took them to the Super Bowl and almost a perfect season. Luck will be following the only 4 time MVP. And I'm sure others will look at greats that were followed such as Montana by Young and Favre by Rodgers and think the exact same should happen with Manning and Luck.
RG3 isn't following one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Luck is. RG3 will probably have more pressure from the coaching staff.
Luck will definitely have more pressure from the fans. I'd take coaching staff pressure over fan pressure any time. I don't think the Colts will cater to Luck.
The Colts learned that the huge mistake they made with Peyton was that they didn't have a balanced team. That cost them winning more Super Bowls than they did I think. If the Colts want to have a good team they need a balanced team with a good offense, defense and special teams.
Before, the rest of the team relied solely on the offense. They can't afford to do that. It's normally a balanced team that wins the Super Bowl.
That's why the Giants beat the Patriots the two times they met in the Super Bowl. That's why the Steelers have won the most Super Bowls. That's why the Patriots won 3 times around the early 2000's and haven't since.
The fans could care less if cutting Peyton Manning saved the team $30 million. I'm sure the owner and GM will be worrying about that. But the fans all they care about is winning.
And with Peyton the Colts won more games in the 2000's than any other team has for a given decade in NFL history, including Montana, Young and the 49ers or Aiken and the Cowboys or the Steel Curtain in the 70's. And from watching the Duke video of Peyton. Colts fans are going to be watching Peyton kick butt with the Broncos and think, "we could have still had him here" or "he should have finished his career here" if Luck does bad.
Who's RG3 replacing? Rex Grossman? People expect to keep winning with a team that has won regularly.
If a great pitcher goes to play for the Royals, they likely don't expect the Royals to win because they never win. If he plays for the Yankees though, he'd better win almost all the time.
Honestly...you could make a strong argument for RG3. Yes, Andrew Luck is replacing one of, if not the, greatest quarterback of all time. But the Redskins payed huge money in free agency so RG3 would have a team around him.
Once RG3 plays one play he would already be the best Skins QB in...I don't even know...it feels like decades. Plus, he's a Heisman winner. On the other hand, everybody in the Colts organization, including Andrew Luck knows they're in a long-term rebuilding process.
Luck is just the first piece to the puzzle. Nobody expects them to be good next year. While the Skins, with a few more years of free agency periods like this one, will eventually be a "Super Bowl or bust" team, as crazy as that sounds.
That's a ridiculous amount of pressure. And it starts with RG3 living up to his hype for the Skins.
RGIII has the better team. But he hasn't really passed all that much this year. Don't expect him to get a ton of yardage this year.
The Redskins are protecting him far too much. Expect them to run the ball a lot instead. Luck will throw for more yardage.
He's already thrown for more than twice as much yardage as RGIII in the preseason. I think RGIII has the better shot at the playoffs after watching the Colts vs Redskins game. The Redskins have a great defense that might be able to get them there.
Although the Colts are in a much weaker division, they don't have easy opponents and the opponents would be tough but possible wins they tend to play early before they get some good experience. Sports writers in Indy think the Colts will win about 5-6 games. That might be about right.
Their defense is young and needs to be better and the offensive line needs to protect Luck better. RGIII may have the better QB rating because he is protected better and passes it less for shorter sure passes with less interceptions, but Luck will have more yardage and longer passes thus he's likely to have more interceptions. Luck does have a bunch of talented receivers.
I'm sure people know the names of the Redskins receivers better. But Indy has one of their best groups of receivers I've ever seen them have and they are all young with the exception of Wayne. After watching all 3 preseason games of each team, I'd definitely take the Colts receivers over the Redskins receivers.
The Redskins dropped far too many passes. Garcon is their top passer and he's well known for dropping passes, especially when he was a Colts player. Wayne is a better player than Garcon.
And the Colts have a bunch of super speedy receivers. Avery, Hilton, Brazil, and Adams are all super fast. And Adams can catch a pass way over his head.
He reminds me of a young Reggie Wayne, just incredible. Then there is Griff Whalen who reminds me of a young Wes Welker. Griff basically didn't miss a single pass in the preseason.
And somehow the little guy always gets open. Then the Colts signed the two top tight ends in the draft. Everyone knows about Coby Fleener, but few know that Allen (their 3rd round pick) won the Mackey award for being the best tight end in the NCAA last year and is considered to be possibly better than Fleener.
And the questions about them blocking well...well, they did pretty awesome at blocking in the preseason. The put some big guys on their butts. To me, I never saw Peyton have that good of a group of receivers to work with as Luck has in his rookie year.
And most of these guys are just rookies. I can't wait to see how they do once they get a little more experience.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
