I don't agree with Paul on a lot of things. But I respect him because he's at least consistent. You can at least tell that he sticks by his principles rather than just follow the polls and say whatever he thinks will get him the most votes.
If he ever managed to get nominated I might vote for him just for that. The GOP is all about an agenda. It doesn't matter which Republican you vote for, it's the agenda you're voting for.
That's why GW Bush was such a good candidate for them, a man with no actual political thinking of his own, who would just read what they put in front of him. They couldn't trust McCain in 2000 so they destroyed his candidacy with a vicious smear campaign. In the 2008 election, every 'serious' candidate had all the same opinions on all the same issues, so it didn't matter which one of them got nominated, their actual agendas would have been a continuation of Bush's agenda.
And it wasn't his agenda either. 8^) Paul is not really a Republican, or even a conserative. He's a libertarian.
There's no way the GOP would let him get close to their nomination. They trot him out between elections to borrow his classy, honest, principled image. Conversely, you'll never see a real liberal do well in the Democratic Party.
I like him -- I have a feeling if he does too good though the media will lampoon him like they did Dean -- I hate corruption more then anything and even if I disagree with paul on some issues -- I am comforted knowing he is not corrupt plus I just don't know anymore a billion dollars to be president -- it is hard not to end up corrupt taking all that money even if you are Paul.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
