Hey Up is still used but mainly by us 'owd uns' If the Grandson comes through the door you may say 'hey up-troubles here' summat is still used. Words like those are also part of the Lancashire accent/dialect. The accent on 'Summer Wine' as been watered down, probably making it easier to follow.
The only actors accents that to me sound vaguely Lancs/Yorks are Wesley Pegden and Edith Pegden who were both from Lancashire and Billy Hardastle who was a Yorkshireman. Unfortunately accents and dialect seem to be 'educated' out of the Language.
Yorkshire slang , I lived in the north of Yorkshire out in the country for a couple of years. I was not too far from the Yorkshire Dales where "Last of the Summer Wine" is set.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
