You need to consider your age. Guinea pig life expectancy is 5-7 years - presumably you are planning to move out and go to college or university - what will happen to your guinea pigs when you move out? I think your family is right, why not just enjoy the pets you've already got and give them 'grooms, vegetables, lots of play times and cuddles'.
Guinea pigs are not particularly docile or laid back, they're very active animals. When you first get them, they will be very nervous and won't enjoy cuddles at all - it will take a lot of effort and energy to get them used to you. You should also keep in mind that guinea pigs have health and vet needs just like dogs and cats.
Please discuss this with your parents first, to make sure that they will be willing to take the guinea pigs to the vets. An illness can cost anywhere between £30 and £200. Unfortunately, many people still have the view of 'guinea pigs aren't worth it', and 'you can just get another one'.
This view is unacceptable (and also illegal) so please check with your parents before getting guinea pigs that they will support trips to the vet. So if you're not dissuaded, some info on guinea pig care: - General Care: http://www.guinealynx.info/healthycavy.html - Everything you could want to know about guinea pigs, including behaviour, whether to get sows (girls) or boars (boys) and care information: https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/quick-information-bundle-for-wannabe-owners.129434 - Which veggies, how often? http://www.rodentswithattitude.co.uk/feeding.html Yes C&C cages are best.
You need 8 sq ft minimum for 2 guinea pigs. This article lists suppliers for the UK for the different parts: https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/c-c-grids-cubes-connectors.17001/ . If you get a hutch instead, don't paint it - eventually the paint will flake off and they will eat it (this is still a problem even with 'pet safe' paint) Please also explore the rest of The Guinea Pig Forum website (https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/) for info on absolutely everything, and if you have any questions, post in the appropriate section.
Posting on a guinea pig forum ensures that you will get informed responses and is much more trustworthy than say, here.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
