If he ever suspected the child to be his, he could have paid to have a paternity test done. Now that she is filing for child support he will still have to pay to have a paternity test done, back child support and current monthly payments. And yes, he should have to pay.
Just because the mother was not forthcoming about the paternity does not dismiss his obligation to the child. Child support is not about the mother and the father. It is about the child and the father.
