Should a pastor preach down on women who don't wear make-up or pants?

It's not a pastor's role to "preach down" on anyone. A pastor's role is to lovingly, humbly guide his congregation in their walk with Father God, and to equip them for reaching others as well as to live successfully.

I can't believe that any man of religion thinks this is any of his business! Surely all he should be concerning himself with is the state of their souls? Seems to me he's a mite prurient ...I personally don't believe its wrong to wear make-up and by pants I presume you mean trousers (I'm over the pond :-)) but I do believe in the inalienable right of a woman (or indeed anyone) to do what they believe is right for them, provided it does not hurt anyone else.

I absolutely agree with you (janikon, Angie Jardine, & breathe2travel). He's sending the wrong message by thinking he can coerce the women into wearing what he thinks they should or shouldn't wear. Christianity is not about the outward appearance, it's about the inward (the soul).

That's what he should be most concerned about. Though the bible says, in Deuteronomy 22:5 that "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment:..." Some believers take that literally, and some don't. It boils down to ones personally relationship with the Lord, and how one feels one is being led by the spirit of God.It is not up to a pastor to decide for anyone.

And about the make-up, why should anyone care whether a woman wear make-up or not. Personally, I don't wear make-up except for an occassional lip gloss/stick, 'cause I believe there's nothing to make up for. God has done a perfect job with my face.

Everyone may not agree with me, but you know, that's their problem. I actually believe us women are better off without the MAKE-UP.

If anything shouldn't a pastor be happy about a woman not applying make-up to her face - many pastors I've come into contact with have complained women wear too much make-up these days. As for the pants - is there a dress code? Why is he taking such a keen interest in how the ladies of his congregation are dressed?

I find it too be weird and SO far out of his purview.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
