No. It has a disclaimer that the views expressed are not those of Google or its staff. Google is a search engine - it trolls the web looking for content.
If it finds the topic it brings back the results. The results are a collection of data brought back from multiple sources. As viewers/readers it is up to us to be discriminating and choose those results that apply to our search.
And I have done searches ( as a researcher ) where I needed to bring back racially inflammatory results - its part of a course at high school teaching 'discrimination'. Should I be prevented from seeing it because its offensive? Good grief no, that's why I SHOULD be able to see it.At no time should Google limit or censor the results it returns based on their view, and they acknowledge this :( article linked below ) /quote/ "The beliefs and preferences of those who work at Google, as well as the opinions of the general public, do not determine or impact our search results.
" /unquote/ and nor should it - that would be censorship of the worst kind! What would you really prefer - censorship or freedom of speech?
This seems pretty straightforward and easy to me. If the unintentional or intentional result of one or all of your actions caused pain or discomfort to another then you should apologize.. big corporation or single person. I apologize to everyone who I have caused to feel enough discomfort that they need to point out to me that my actions have been hurtful in some way and some that don't point it out to me but I see myself in hindsight. In my understanding of how I make amends for the things I do wrong yes Google should if they have been informed by one or more parties that it's actions were the cause of someones hurt or pain then yes they should apologize or in hindsight they can see their actions were hurtful.
I'm sure I will owe Tim Robbins an apology for the below action and if I see him or he contacts me I will be sure to let him know how sorry I am.
If Google has reason to think some results are offensive or inapproproate I'd rather they didn't return them than that they apologised for them. Or, if they think they should be findable, at least control how and where they get seen and add warnings the same way it might do for adult content or suspected phishing sites. It seems pretty strange to apologise for something like that, and then keep doing it.
I find it hard to believe it's really outside their control! If it is then Google isn't quite as smart a company as I imagined. Anyway, they seem perfectly willing to squash sites using black-hat SEO when they spot it, so I don't see why they can't squash other unacceptable sites.
Should they apologise for problematic search results ever? Sure. A company should apologise when there are instances of poor service.
And returning results like that is poor service as far as most customers are concerned because it's not what they were looking for.
If you apologize for something then you are admitting that it is wrong. Saying that yes, we think it's wrong, but the majority of people don't see it that way so we're going to publish it anyway smacks of sensationalism to me. If you truly think it is wrong then you shouldn't be an accomplice to it.
If you just want to increase the traffic on your site, then you should.
Yes, Google should apologize. But, they should qualify their apology. "We here at Google work hard to catalog and rank high quality websites.
When someone searches using a 'keyword' our system automatically matches results in that catalog with the terms that were used. This is an algorithmic and automatic process based on content that we have no direct control over. From this point forward, Google is recommending that the general public use human powered search engines such as Mahalo.Com to preform their searches so that the information presented is accurate and supported.
" That's what I would say if my last name was either Brin or Page :).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
