Should Homosexuals Be Allowed To Serve Openly In The U.S. Armed Forces?

As the wife of a marine I have to say no. I know that many will disagree, but I have always heard the stories of boot camp and the camaraderie that existed during that time. I honestly can't imagine a lot of men wanting to be that close with men they think are 'checking them out'.

Maybe in combat everyone acts the same and does the job the same way. But in the barracks I think it will only cause many to be uncomfortable. It's just an honest opinion, sorry if it offends.

In my opinion, there should be no discrimination regarding homosexuals. Sexual orientation shouldn't come into it when it comes to serving in the armed forces or in fact any job, it doesn't affect their ability to carry out a job.

There should be no distinction between the rights, obligations and liberties of gay people and other people.

I don't think openly is a good idea. I thought the whole point of being an adult was to do whatever YOU wanted behind closed doors.

The Spartan warriors were bisexual and some must have been gay, and they kicked ass big time.

Why not. It's a very annoying topic with me I don't understand ppl who are against this, if a gay man or woman wants to serve then let them, if they want to get married then let them.. what's the big deal.

Yes but only in their own units. The military should form special units filled solely by Gays. They can then do a recruiting campaign.It should not only be "straights" that die for their country.

Of course they should. This silly fear of gays blows my mind. What is it about gay people that some people fear.In Canada we treat them like everyone else and it sure hasn't hurt our country.

For sure! Why not! If they are homosexual that doesn't mean they lack any physical or mental ability.

They are equally sound too. Being different to others doesn't take your right away.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
