If all you're doing is surfing the net, checking e-mail, doing social networking (Twitter, FaceBook, etc. ) and MS Office-type stuff, then Linux is fine. However if you plan to do stuff that absolutely requires Windows apps, then Linux definitely won't work. Linux definitely has a number of great equivalents to Windows and OS X applications, such as Office (OpenOffice.
Org), iTunes (RhythmBox), Photoshop (GIMP). It works well with iPods (NOT iPhone or iPod Touch however), and works well with most digital cameras.It's also safer in terms of security due to being far less targeted than Windows. You don't need to run antivirus software, at least not yet.
It's also a little faster on low end hardware than Windows, particularly netbooks. I recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 onto a friend's 11" Acer Aspire One, and the bootup is much faster than Windows XP, and overall response is snappier.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
