Should I learn Spanish, Italian, or French?

It looks you have very sound judgement and reasoning ... but I would take it 1 step further. In the case of learning Spanish, you would have to answer the question "When will I ever need to talk to a Spanish speaking person?" You could be surrounded by Spanish speaking people but not ever talk to any one of them, so learning Spanish would not seems very practical after all.

In the case of learning Italian, "Would I ever want to go to Italy or mingle with Italian speaking people?" The reasoning to this is very similar to the Spanish one, except learning Italian would be more out of interest, rather than, let's say, getting a job that requires Spanish. You could try to take down 2 birds with 1 stone, but it would be a LOT of work and I don't believe overworking yourself is ever the smart way to learn or do something.

In the end, I would choose Italian, since if I'd really enjoy the culture and had a natural inclination towards it in the beginning, then I'd probably learn it much faster (and better) than to learn something that I felt obligated to do.

Both are pretty similar languages actually. Spanish is my first language but I'm able to understand Italian as well, just because I know Spanish. But Spanish is way more useful if we consider that 56 countries in America, Spain in Europe, some African countries, and a few Asian ones speak Spanish as their first language or at least as their second language, while only 4 countries in the whole world speak Italian.

Spanish is one of the most romantic languages because of its rich vocabulary and its flexible grammar. Italian is quite beautiful also, but I would prefer Spanish. Yes, French spelling and grammar rules are way harder than Spanish ones, but remember that Spanish vocabulary is huge... I would choose Spanish for sure, but that may be because Spanish is my first language (It is quite useful, actually.

I now live in an English-speaking country and I have met dozens on Spanish-speaking people, while I have met only one Italian...).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
