Don't think the fuel prices are every likely to come own to what they were a year ago never mind the good old days when fuel was relatively cheap. You are better of choosing a smaller car, than spending on a big fuel guzzler which only hurts your pocket. All the best.
Depending on the automobile, it can be cheaper to repair if its smaller. You can't go wrong with a small automobile. Use less gas, oil, fluids...rorshak sobchak.
Alternates are been manufactured in order to face this issue, & smaller cars will depreciate slowly as compared to luxury cars.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
