Should I use an e-cig? Day 4 of quitting.?

Congratulations on making the decision to quit smoking! I am a pharmacy student, and am very familiar with smoking cessation products. I have spoken with several patients who have also tried the electronic cigarette and encountered this same problem.

While it is great for weaning you off nicotine, the physical act of smoking is still a habit. One thing that some people find helpful is chewing gum or sucking on a hard candy. Having something to suck on/chew on gives the mind something else to focus on, rather than fixating on the need to press a cigarette to your lips.

If you have done well cutting down on nicotine, it might be helpful to just try chewing regular gum at first to see if that helps break the cigarette habit. If you find that your body is still craving the nicotine, you could opt for Nicorette gum or lozenge instead. The other option is to quit cold-turkey.

Both my parents tried to quit smoking for years, using the patches, gum, and even Chantix. My dad was a smoker for 20 years and successfully quit on his 6th attempt when he tried Chantix. My mom, on the otherhand, was a light smoker who had smoked for about 20 years.

She tried to quit about once every other year during that period and nothing ever helped (gum, patches, etc.). Finally, in 2012 she just quit cold turkey. She found that the only thing she craved was that physical act of smoking.

She tried chewing gum anytime she had the urge to pick up a cigarette and found that did the trick! She's been a nonsmoker ever since. If you would like more information on smoking cessation, the CDC has a great website with many links to resources for people trying to quit.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
