I think that there is indeed a point to voting questions uninteresting, particularly if I see a dozen of similar questions all on the home page, such a during a major media event like the Grammys or the All Star Game. I'm also more likely to mark a question uninteresting if the same person asks 4-5 questions in as many minutes (which, incidentally, are often about the same topic). Hopefully people use it as a way to limit people from spamming the question queue.
This feature will come in handy as we grow. Starting soon we're going to include the MOST interesting questions on the home page and we are going to move down the LEAST interesting questions. 90% of questions will probably not be effected, but the 5% that are super interesting will surface... and that's the goal.
Also, if something is voted uninteresting like 10 times it's a sign it probably shouldn't be on the homepage. This tool is really to manage the homepage which is going to start moving faster and faster.
Unless they actually do something with it, like put it in one's profile, than I think that yes they should. When one is looking at a question they usually decide whether to answer it based on if it looks interesting/answerable or not and then after they have viewed the question. The interesting/uninteresting serves no real purpose other than either to congratulate someone on a good question or to tell someone that the question isn't very good.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
