A penny tip does seem kinda chintzy, but it probably helps out new members who don't have much $M in their account yet, but I think a minimum of 50 cents might discourage some folks from tipping.
No, I don't think that it should increase the minimum tip. If it does, the number of tips would decrease significantly and you would see less voting of questions. The voting is very important as it shows people the popularity of the questions and if they are worth viewing.
Before viewing older questions, I usually check the votes that the question has received and if there are 2 very similar questions, I'll open the one with the most vote first. Increasing the minimum tip will just leave you with many 0 vote questions.
I think the line of thinking behind it is to push participation without financially jeopadizing the answer community. @jasoncalacanis said himself that he expects those who aren't 'takers' to be tipping questions up, which either moves a question on the popular chart or the highest tipped chart respectively. Cheers!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
