Should mental health warnings be placed in shopping malls, warning you against getting into debt?

Will you be happier for buying these things?'Before Christianity, followers of the Greek philosopher Epicurus formed communities that lasted for about four hundred years in what is now modern Turkey. Epicurus and his followers believed that you could not be truly happy if you were not economically free of debt and-ideally- financially independent, not having to laugh at a boss' jokes, etc. Epicurus also famously said that death was nothing to him. While you were alive, you were not dead and once you were dead, you were no longer alive and knew nothing anyway.

I would say YES! The only reason I would say yes is because there are so many people addicted to shopping. It is a lot of people that are going through the 12 step program for shopping and getting out of debt from it.

Also, if you look at shows like Clean House and other shows like that you will find many people stating they are addicted to shopping. With the economy and recession that we are experiencing we need to be more careful with how and what we are spending our money on.

It'd never happen, and here is why. The whole purpose of a shopping mall is to sell you stuff, or more stuff. Whether you need the stuff is irrelevant - in fact, you, the consumer, are irrelevant except as you pertain to moving stuff.

Your mental health matters only to the degree that it can convince you to purchase more stuff. Therefore, while a warning like that might seem appealing, it will never happen - or worse, it'll be co-opted, similar to the way that some advertisements try to appeal to consumers' beliefs that they're immune to them. No That is so ridiculous. Have you read the constitution? Do you not realize that we are a capitalistic society?

If people want to get in debt let them, its their own fault. People would not even pay attention to the signs. If they don't know the pitfalls about getting in to debt by not, a sign on the window is not going to help them.

There is a reason why Rome fell. Capitalism may have its problems, buts its the best out there by far.

2 RE: >The economy IS us. It is driven by our human desires and weaknesses. A human by-product if you will.

That's a big reason why I doubt that people would listen and follow such advice.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
