This may seem a bit "out there", but despite how a person may feel about the principles of prayer, there is a reasonable amount of science behind the health benefits of prayer. A 2005 Duke University Study showed some benefits to prayer in heart patients (specifically in their emotional health). Other studies has shown similar benefits.

Still this is a slippery slope - should we include acupuncture? Yoga? Meditation?

If I pray for myself, can I get paid? Given the scope of the coverage (i.e. , national) I think one of the huge questions we have to deal with is what can we afford. My opinion is that we really shouldn't be looking to cover MORE treatments, but instead be looking at the most effective treatments (scientifically).

It seems reasonable to me that if we are going to extend healthcare coverage to more Americans we may need to take a hard look at how broad the coverage we extend is. My gut feel is that we cover way too much. The plan as it is will be very costly to the American taxpayers and we need to be sure that we are using the resources as effectively as possible.

This is a topic that will be met with huge debate. Just look at the public response to suggestions that women might not need as many mammograms (i.e. Less coverage might be okay!

). Each change we look at will be analyzed, debated and scrutinized much like this one. But this is as it should be.

We need to find out what's working. We need to discuss it and then we need to make the best decision possible. In terms of prayer - I think people should keep praying - but just do it out of sincere (and unpaid) compassion.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
