Should the 14 year who caused a 13 year old to overdose on Oxycodone be tried as an adult?

Talking about doing something can't MAKE anyone do anything. In her case it was texting. Has anyone ever been able to talk you into doing something just by writing you a note?

Those Nigerian scams are pretty convincing though I must say... The only reason the 14 year old is even being attacked legally is because of how the law is written. They could even go after the grandmother whose medication it was because she was "involved" too. The only way something like this can be stopped from happening again is to stop having kids.

Adults have to take responsibility for securing medication and preventing children from being left alone where medication is being stored. How can this be a deterrent? Well that 13 year old will never have that problem again and the 14 year old will never allow herself to be in that situation again.

Problem solved right? Seriously though, how do you prevent anyone at any age from doing or involving themselves in something they have no way of knowing what the outcome will be? Alcohol kills SO many people every year, at all ages but nothing is done to effectively prevent or deter drinking because "adults" like it.

A lot of noise will be made about this. The Feds will get involved (it's a controlled substance). Basically everyone will do their job and in the process what will be completely forgotten and overruled is that a little girl has lost her friend and is suffering a worse punishment inside herself than any court or authority could sentence her to.

She didn't "cause" it. She'll never forget it or stop regretting it though. How much good will it do to rub her face in it?

And don't say it'll set an example to others. We all know how effective that tactic is.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
