In my opinion housing benefits shouldn't keep people in an overly luxurious or large house for more than a limited period. If a person has to drop onto housing benefits and they can't get off them, then they should get some time to make reasonable new arrangements before it has to stop. In the long term that helps them, if the area is too luxurious and expensive, then they have little chance of getting a good enough job to pay the rent.
In most cases neither . To be honest the whole system in this country simply doesn't work . Landlords aren't going to rent out properties at a loss are they and housing is so hard to find renters have little if any choice .
I can't see the exodus to outer London being feesable as we don't have the housing out here either . One thing I expect we'd agree about is that the UK does desperately need more social housing , what I'm sure we won't agree about is that I believe it is simply pointless to tend to the symtoms , we need to cure the root of the problem and that is overpopulation . We need to start taking control of our own population and take radical steps to at least keep it static if not actually reducing it .
There's simply no point building new houses when we have an open boarder immigration policy and immigrants are given priority in social housing . Another problem is the obsession we have in this country about owning property ( one of the things I didn't agree with Thatcher about ) all it does is force prices to constantly rise , which in turn puts rents up . People in the north are sometimes forced to leave their home towns to find work , people in the south often have to leave their home towns to find homes because they simply can't afford to live in their home towns .
There is no easy answer to this one , I am open to debate on this subject .
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
