In my opinion...yes. As much as people affiliated with Green peace and all those other crazies out there will tell you that animals deserve to be free and that animals in captivity are being held agaisnt their will...blah blah blah. Animals in zoo's get pampered and besides that zoos show people how amazing most of the creatures in the world really are...if anything zoos promote awareness for organizations that want to help endangered animals etc =D.
I have to agree with Webskitzo...not to mention, while it's not ALL of the animals in zoos, a very large number are there because they couldn't live in the wild for one reason or another. Most were born in captivity. Some were injured and didn't make a successful re-introduction into the wild, some were orphaned very young and couldn't be released into the wild, and some are potential dangers to humans because of habitat depletion.
The most recent additions to the zoo nearest me came in two weeks ago...three bear cubs. The mother bear dragged a man out of a tent and mauled him to death, and the babies would have been put down if there were no captive alternative because they'd already learned some very dangerous hunting techniques from their mother.
Zoos are great for breeding and conservation purposes. A good zoo will build a big and natural environment for it's animals. I also think it's a great way for educating people of the importance of saving these endangered animals out in the wild.
Seeing these animals in person can not be taken for granted.
I think, that pictures and videous of animals running free should be enough...
I think zoos are cruel & humilliating for animals, who are deprived of their natural habitat & purpose of existence.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
