Should you pay a parking ticket that's issued by a non-government agency?

If you attend that school you have to pay them to get your grades at the end of the semester. To get your parking sticker you sign a contract to do so and abide by the rules. When I was in College I always had a couple of hundred dollars in tickets at the end of each semester because I didn't want to walk in bad weather and always parked in the professors parking.

They always had the best spots right next to the buildings. If you are not part of the organization just throw them away. When I took a bus into work and had to park in their lot I never paid for it and got these cards on my car everyday saying they would tow my car.

I just parked in a different part of the lot and my car never got towed. One day when the glove box was filled I brought them into the counter and the woman asked if I was going to pay them. I told her no but for her to throw them out and if they pursued it I would take their competitor in everyday.

Therefore you would not only lose payment but a monthly customer. She threw them out. Just remember to smile when you say it but be firm.

When you park somewhere, including at other people's property, you rent space from them, and therefor you should pay for the ticket. In third world countries such as mine, there are "informal" parking attendants who ask for your money although the owner of the space dont. Like it or not you should give them tips because it's the norm here.

Sometimes we can't just expect to follow everything by the book. There are things that we have to pay like tipping that is not a legal obligation.

You should learn to park in areas that don't interfere with another business. Assuming that legitimate customers of the university don't deserve the better spots and to have them taken up by lazy, self serving persons is very frustrating. After all they are paying for the use of those spots and you don't.It's likely designated private property (even though it's open to the public) so they have the right to tow you without notice.

It's a courtesy for them to ticket you instead since a ticket is cheaper than a tow for you. Public University's are Government owned and run even if it's City or State, it's still Government. It's amazing how little respect people have for things when they think they can get away with it. Stealing software, downloading movies for free, linking, downloading and using photographs or images online they don't have explicit permission to use.

It's as though anonymity though sheer numbers is being used as an excuse for making unethical or outright illegal activities okay. Just because the resources aren't there to sue and pursue every violator doesn't make it "okay". Shame on you for even considering it, much less bullying your way out of taking responsibility for your actions.

Park where you are not blocking legitimate customers and learn to take your knocks when you screw up. Not doing so is cowardly or even bordering on being a bully (as the other answerer implied). Treat people how you want to be treated if the situation was reversed.

Frankly if you have to ask if what you're doing is wrong you already know it is and are just looking to massage your conscience. Grow up and take responsibility. Quit looking to "get away with it" and do the right thing the first time and you won't get into situations like this.

The first mistake is worth getting away with a warning. A glovebox full of warnings is taking advantage of others and wrong. If I were running security I'd photograph every violator and when a pattern developed I'd initiate (and legally my right to do so) towing without further notice.

Then when taken to court by the violator I'd produce every photograph of every violation and the judge would easily rule in our favor. And don't even start with "photos can be faked" there are many cameras that can be set up to take and prove forensically that the photos are original. It's used all the time.

Even my camera can do it.

No matter who issues the parking ticket, if you are parking longer than you should or areas where you shouldn't park, yes you should pay the ticket. I know many people just shove them in their glove compartment and go on, but that's just not right. They need to be paid.

I used to work for a university, and they did not send their tickets to collections unless you wracked up a lot of them. So, you could have gotten away with it three or four times, but keep in mind that when you steal that spot, you're taking it from someone who paid a pretty penny for their permit. I HATED seeing people breaking the rule when I was driving around with my $180 parking permit, and no place to park.

Others are not so generous. I sold my car to a jerk who didn't register it (long story but in my state, the seller can do everything right and still get burned). He parked in a bunch of private lots and didn't pay and they sent it to collections.

I know because it came to ME and was a threat to MY credit until I showed them documentation that the car had been sold. When you park, read the sign: you're agreeing to pay and entering a contract with them. Yes, they have the right to ticket you.

Yes, you should pay.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
