I say Coke, and here's why. Branding: Coke has consistently tapped in to the power of branding and maintained it's share of the market this way. From the 30s to the 50s, Coke kept its same, successful marketing campaign, calling itself "The Pause that Refreshes," a slogan tailor made to a Depression and post Depression economy.
allaboutbranding.com/index.lasso?article... The Sales Force: Coca Cola trained its salesmen to not only talk to customers but to listen too. In the early days, the slogan the Vice President and Director of Sales gave to bottlers was "Know thy Customers. " This is a sound principle of marketing anything.
http://www.businessweek.com/chapter/tedlow.htm The taste: According to this article, Cokes wins out in taste tests against Pepsi because some people find Pepsi too sweet. http://ezinearticles.com/?Coke-Or-Pepsi---Who-Makes-Better-Drinks?&id=3090618 I think Pepsi tastes metallic, but the fact remains that Coke just tastes better.
As an Atlanta resident, I suppose my loyalties are something of a forgone conclusion. After all, Atlanta is Coca-Cola Headquarters, and home to the World of Coca-Cola. The red and white logo is practically a second city flag.
Even our center for the arts is named after Coca Cola magnate Robert W. Woodruff. The Woodruff Arts Center is one of many things that his foundation funded in our city.
I am especially fond of vanilla Coke, particularly when Coca-Cola is served from the fountain, and vanilla syrup is added. Mind you, due to my resolution to get healthy, Coca-Cola is a sometime treat. I must say, I am a bit disappointed that you have chosen to frame this friendly competition as violent.
After all, as this video clearly demonstrates, Coca-Cola is a beverage of peace. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfU17niXOG8.
Coke, because even though they took the Cocaine out of their secret recipe (The name "Coca" in Coca-Cola comes from coca leaves), they stll managed to keep it highly addictive. I know several people who can't live without it.
COKE! For me there is nothing like it. Pepsi is way to sweet.
You can say that I am one of those people who can not go without it. I LOVE COKE! ME AT 3:00 am lol flickr.com/photos/funkyah/455336901.
I prefer Pepsi. I think Coke taste too flat. I won't even drink it out of the fountain.
If I go some where that doesn't have Pepsi on fountain I will get anything else before I will Coke.
I prefer Coke to regular Pepsi, it has more carbonation and is less sweet. (In Canada anyways) When Pepsi Throwback is available, I prefer it to Coke. Pepsi Throwback is Pepsi made with real sugar instead of corn syrup.
You must try it if you are a fan of cola, the difference is amazing.
Coke and Pepsi a bit like Hungry Jacks (or Buger King in US) and McDonalds. You get used to the taste and that is the one you prefer. Although could get used to either with enough time!
I prefer coke (although I'd prefer I didn't like it! ). I see a lot more advertising for Coke here in Australia - but that's just what I notice. It seems to be No.
1 where I'm at. As to who would win a battle - whoever had the most advertising creativity and $$$'s!
Ah, the age old question! Here is my favorite take on it (click on the pic to view a larger version).
As a brand, I would have to say that Coca Cola reigns supreme because it is more well known and imitated globally. There aren't as many Pepsi imitations. Also, it's proven that the name Coca Cola is more marketable than Pepsi due to its affiliation with the popular drug Cocaine.
People somehow linked the two because of the short-form name for Coca Cola being "Coke". Some people even took it so far to claim the Coca Cola logo manifested this affiliation. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the letter "C" in Cola (on the logo) going through the "L".
It looks like a wave of powder being inhaled into a nose(supposedly).
I prefer Pepsi... sweeter, more refreshing to me... Plus it's the little (BIG) guy.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
