Thanksgiving Dinner First of all, no one in my family ever cooks the Thanksgiving dinner all alone. The whole point of Thanksgiving in my family is that everyone chips in and works together. However, given that there has to be a main chef, yes, when Thanksgiving is at my house, I am the executive chef.
I learned from chipping in year after year, until I can do things in my sleep. Everyone has their specialties. My father does the white onions.
I do the mashed potatoes and the gravy. My parents and I stuff the turkey, although whoever is around the night before shells the chestnuts. Also my mother or I might make the cranberry sauce. As I suggested above, if it's at my mother's house, she does the turkey, and when it's at my house, I do it.
Perhaps the most fun thing is the fruit cup, which starts the meal. Fruits we've frozen from local growers, like strawberries, peaches and blueberries. Then there's what is growing locally now: apples, pears, etc. Then there's what comes from farther afield: oranges, grapefruits, pineapples, mangos, kiwis, and who knows what else.
Just no bananas. My Father hates bananas. Finally, desert. Pies.
Mince (homemade -- and that's a whole 'nother story), apple, pumpkin. Pie, of course, is best had at breakfast. Sometimes we also have home made (by me) pralines on the table at desert time.
I should also say that when Thanksgiving is at my sister-in-law's, my brother-in-law actually does make the whole meal. He can't stand anyone else in his kitchen.
I used to cook the entire meal until we combined my wife’s and my family dinner into one meal. Up until then I cooked the turkey for my wife’s family supper and cooked all of our dinner. I still cook our entire Christmas meal.My normal Thanksgiving meal consisted of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, creamed corn or corn casserole, homemade mac and cheese (none of that stuff in a box), gravy, homemade bread, green beans, sweet tea, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie.
Okay, now I’m hungry! .
One year it was just me and Dad for Thanksgiving. It was THE BEST Thanksgiving spread I have ever had! He barbequed everything but the rice and beans...chicken, fresh corn, other veggies...not to mention the ribs!
I brought a pie.
Holy cow! I help. I don't know if our kitchen would even permit one person doing all of it.
Me... I love to cook a dinner, but I must admit that my wife does cook beef better than I do...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
