Curtis Parker has a style similar to that of Joe Frazier but that's where the comparison ends. He was a good fighter and good enough to defeat Frank Fletcher and Mike Colbert finishing with a career mark of 29-9-0 with 21 KO's. Bennie Briscoe is arguably one of the best fighters to never win a title and as tough as they come, only knocked out once in 96 fights with a record of 66-24-5 with 53 KO's.
He held Monzon to a draw in their first fight and also had a draw with Emile Griffith. He did defeat Eddie Mustafa Muhammad along the way too. Bennie is the epitome of a tough Philly fighter and would have worn down Parker with vicious body shots.
Parker would realize right away that Briscoe had a head and jaw made of steel. Briscoe wins by technical knockout in 8 rounds.
Bad Bennie Briscoe is the quintessential Philly fighter who had tested generations of middleweight champions. Bennie fought Middleweight champions Marvin Hagler, Vito Antuofermo, Rodrigo Valdez, Emile Griffith and Carlos Monzón. He also fought and defeated future light-heavyweight champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, and dropped a decision to former welterweight champion Luis Rodriguez.
Bennie was known for his toughness, strong punch and body punching. He fought future middleweight champion Monzon to a draw in Buenos Aires on May 6, 1967, but dropped a 15 round decision to the champion in a 1972 title match. Briscoe, was outpointed by former welterweight and middleweight king Emile Griffith in their first match, but fought Griffith to a draw in a rematch.
He was outpointed by future middleweight champions Marvin Hagler and Vito Antuofermo. Bad Bennie also fought Rodrigo Valdez three times. He was outpointed twice, but Valdez scored a rare KO over Briscoe in an elimination match to determine the WBC middleweight champion on May 25, 1974.
The WBC had decided to "strip" Monzon of its version of the middleweight crown, although the rest of the world continued to recognize Monzon as champion. Briscoe was one of the most feared middleweights of his era. In 2003, he was named to the The Ring's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time.
Briscoe always wore a Jewish Star of David on his boxing trunks. Boxing magazines and news reports in the early 1970s, said he was practicing the Jewish faith. However, in interviews with the media, Briscoe stated that, while he found the Star of David a powerful symbol, he was a Baptist.
Given his more impressive credentials as well as extensive experience, I would take bennie over Parker (who?) anytime!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
