The start-up squeak may be a loose fan belt causing slippage and squeaking. This can cause the engine to overheat. If the engine has a ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor and fuel injection this increase in temperature could cause the engine to stall.
However, could the automakers in Japan be smart enough to install a safety cut off temperature switch to protect from overheating damage?
