Studying college, and studying abroad?

Dude, I am going to tell you a story. I grew up in Scotland. My father was a sheep farmer, and I grew up in a relatively poor household.

As a child, I always planned on being a farmer like my father - I had never considered college. In fact, when one of my teachers suggested I go to university, I was dismissive - I thought uni was only for super clever people, not me. Anyways, long story short, after a little while they convinced me to apply.

Seven years later I graduated with my PhD in Biology, and got my first job in New Zealand. Now, 6 years after that, I work as a lecturer at one of the best universities in Japan. I make considerably more money than my father.

Now remember, I never even thought I was clever enough to go to uni. You never know where your education will take you, but stats show that on average, the best investment you can make is in education. Now, you rightly identify that America is indeed an expensive place to go to college.

Terribly expensive in my opinion. You should, rightly, look overseas. I teach on a program called Global 30 in Japan.

Our goal is the internationalization of Japanese higher education. We help foreign students come to Japan and study in English (while also learning Japanese too). We have low tuition fees, and we offer scholarships.

For my university, we even offer the 1st year free for undergraduates. Tohoku University offers a good engineering undergrad degree (TU is ranked 3rd in the world for engineering, I believe), and good scholarships / tuition fees reductions. We offer a good science degree, and perhaps the best social sciences program in Japan.

In terms of benefits we are maybe best. In Germany, I believe some degrees can be completed in English, but not sure for your program. No-one can offer you any guarantees; however, it is wise to look around at your options.

Good luck.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
