Tea party people always claim dems have joined them, why would a democrat be for smaller government and less?

The Republicans have made promises for 30 years now to balance the budget, make government smaller and cheaper, cut taxes, get it off our backs, and make America great again. But once in office they ignore these promises. They had to figure sooner or later Republican voters would realize that Republican politicians, once in office, behave the exact opposite of their promises.

The Tea Party is a chance for them to pretend ' we're not those nasty, lying Republicans, we're different! We're REALLY going to balance the budget, make govt. Smaller and cheaper, cut taxes, get it off our backs, and make American great again!

It's a chance for them to distance themselves from the huge failures of the Bush administration and make those promises all over again. But the people behind the Tea Party are the same people who participated in the Bush megafailure. The Tea Party has been co-opted by Republicans--not disaffected Republican voters but cynical Republican leaders.

Its funding comes from Republican sources and the movement is built up and promoted by Fox News, a Republican propaganda outlet. And, like Republicans for the last few decades, they foster intolerance of every kind--racism, nativism and xenophobia, homophobia, and religious intolerance. Because, of course, they're going for the same demographic groups as the GOP did.

Because they ARE the GOP.

You have to draw the line somewhere. Each culture of people is different so shouldn't the people of the culture determine what sorts of rules and cultural definitions they want? And why exactly have I not seen any of the gay marriage marches out in force supporting polygamy?

It fits the same qualifications as they use to support gay marriage and doesn't impact anyone else. Secondly, do you have evidence that Palin truly wants a federal government mandate on defining marriage? Or just evidence that she is opposed to gay marriage?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
