Technically, could Catholicism be considered a cult?

Steve G has already responded correctly. Religion, especially the Abramic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) all fit the classic definitions of being cults with their centralized and unquestioned authority. Individual denominations can and often do fit the same criteria, simply because they represent the larger religion as it was originally established.

And those who claim to be independent of centralized authority tend to kid themselves into thinking that they have no centralized authority and yet, do not they worship and recognize an all-powerful, all-knowing, and unforgiving deity? One that will quickly condemn any who do not recognize the supreme authority to an everlasting and unending punishment? Only those religions that are more philosophies do not truly qualify as cults since they are more idealistic than theological in nature.

But, if they have a centralized leadership, one that is unyielding (and to maintain any consistency or authority, it has to be unyielding), then they qualify as a cult. All that said and the TDs pouring in from those who only think of other religions (than their own) as being cults, is being a cult a bad thing? Fan clubs are cults.

They have a centralized and worshiped (in its own way) ideal or person. Is it such a bad thing as to being a political cult (like the republicans or democrats in the United States)? Only if you use the word (cult) in a denigrating manner, can it represent something bad, but why stoop to misrepresent something with words.

Just come out and say it - you don't agree with Roman Catholicism and what it teaches... and then move on with your life. To do anything more is to harbor a dislike that is only destructive to yourself.

Catholicism isn't a cult and you are not a Catholic if you do not believe 99% of what Priests teach. The Catholic Church happens to be the biggest private charity in the entire world and also is responsible for inventing and starting the very first hospital and university on earth. It was also set up by Jesus Christ Himself.

It is the ORIGINAL Christian religion. I don't even understand what TV shows you are referring to either. Maybe you don't know what Catholicism is.

Your question is all over the place.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
