I don't think so I think it would more cause corruption.. A lot of congress members do it because they love politics.. Don't get me wrong the money is an added bonus.. But I don't think it would improve much.

Possibly... ...but, people do not go into politics for the salaries. Politics yields power, clout, privilege and even the chance of corruption. But, you don't get exciting salaries in government.

Look, there is nothing shabby about a $175,000 salary, with very good benefits! But, an MBA right out of school with a job offer in investment banking will make the same of more, including bonus. Big business and small business offer individuals the opportunity to make much more in financial compensation. So, rational people going into government generally aren't cash compensation hungry.

The salary is sufficient for a family to live without suffering hardship. But, most politics-bound careers are seeking other kinds of remuneration. If the salary increased to $1 million, you could argue that the quality could decline.

How so? All of a sudden, unqualified money grubbing individuals would compete for these spots. Since their ambitions would be the compensation, it isn't clear they would represent their electorates well.

No, I think there needs to be a careful balance. You want people in this kind of job who want to serve their electorate. But, you don't only want to get independently wealthy folks who don't need a salary at all.

I think the $175,000 plus benefits salary is fair, if slightly on the low side. Sources: My opinion .

No. Humans aren't like that. Humans are like the Rockefeller who was asked how much money he was worth and his answer was off by about forty million dollars.

Human beings will always want more. I think we should lower the pay to $25,000 or $30,000 a year and attract the kind of people who wouldn't care about money.

1 It would get TOO competitive then! Everyone and their crooked brother would run! I sure would!

LOL! .

2 Wow! That's a great idea. It might make them less greedy when it comes to grabbing all the bucks they can.

Also it might break up the millionaires' club in the Senate. I think almost every Senator is a multi-millionaire. (John Kerry's wife is worth $700 million and John McCain's wife is worth $100 million, for example).

Maybe some "regular" people would run! .

How much do cast members get paid on gold rush alaska.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
