Would placing term limits on Congressman and Senators in Congress solve the problems in Washington?

Term limits would be a good start. Much more accountability would also help. I'm thinking that every member of Congress and every Senator should have to appear in front of a "Voters Committee" at the end of each fiscal year and explain their voting record....publicly!

Ending the hold lobbyists have over our politicians would also be needed. Perhaps we could pass a law that all lobbying must be conducted publicly rather than behind closed doors. Every lobbyist and member of Congress along with all the Senators would have to conduct their "business" in public for all the voters to see.

I'm sure they would all embrace this idea because after all they have nothing to hide..........do they?

I think there should definitely be term limits. I would say three terms is enough for the House, and one for the senate. Also, I would not mind giving Congressional representatives health care, I believe all Americans are entitled to that, but make being elected to office a non-paid position.

Thus, only people who really want to be there would pursue it. However, I doubt any of this would ever happen.

I really feel term limits and either cutting out lobbyists in Washington DC or severely limiting them could change the entire political picture.

I think we should we away with the party system and set 4 year term limits on all, do away with lobbyist, set maximum spending limits on campaigns. That would at least do away with buying a political office and some of the back door deals, or having to do your party's bidding instead of doing what's best for all.

It may or may not resolve problems..........but IT would stop compliance and corruption that is bred by " job security". It would send the message, ...............you are only as valuable as your ability to perform. No performace.......no job..........a changing of guard.

What the new guard offers is yet to be seen.........but either they perform, or they too are replaced, until, SOMEBODY gets it right and starts performing.

Absolutely, your assessment is right on. We can no longer trust our own elected reps and the term limits will gaurantee it. The monied interests won't invest so much in a short term.

We may at least have a chance to elect someone who woulod really work of us. Some representation is better than none.

SENATOR JIM DE MINT ( R ) INTRODUCED A RESOLUTION S.J.RES.11 on 4/14/11 has 10 cosponsors, All RepublicanLatest Title: A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relative to limiting the number of terms that a Member of Congress may serve to 3 in the House of Representatives and 2 in the Senate. Related Bills: H.J.RES.20, H.J.RES.71, S.J.RES.1 Latest Major Action: 4/14/2011 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Doubt that Senator Reid and the Democrats will allow a bill to the floor for a vote. The Democrats hold a majority and control what is voted on in the 112th congress THE DEMOCRATS have had control of the Senate since 2007 - present. THE PEOPLE NEED TO LET THEIR REPRESENTATIVES KNOW HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT THE BILL.

Term limits must be made. This is the only way to keep our leadership fresh and working hard. These guys spend millions of dollars to own their seat.

These politicians today are way too entitled. These guys vacation 1/2 the year and then the rest of the time they are lobbying for things that only help them.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
