The carpet in my car smells, how can I get the smell out easily, without using a steam cleaner?

The smell is probably from something that you spilled, like milk. It makes an awful sour smell. There's nothing you can do to the carpet threads-- the milk or other liquid has soaked down into the carpet backing and probably into the felt padding underneath.

The only solution is to take out the carpet and padding and give them a very thorough washing in one of those huge laundromat tumbler washers. Probably should wash it twice, second time with a little bleach.
