The CD player,in my 2001 Ford Focus, sometimes plays great and other times skips so bad I switch to the radio?

The CD player,in my 2001 Ford Focus, sometimes plays great and other times skips so bad I switch to the radio! The same CD will play perfectly one day and skip like crazy the next! Whats going on?

Dust/dirt in the CD player or on the CDs? CD will skip even if vehice is not moving. Problem occures with original CDs and copies made for the car.

Most likely dust or dirt on the CDs - and now in the player too. Most likely dust or dirt on the CDs - and now in the player too. Try cleaning your CDs before placing them inside the player.

If possible clean/blow out the CD player too. Also... for your copies - try burning them using a lower speed setting. Go as low as you can get and try those out for couple of days.

If your brand new slow-burn copies still skip with car not moving - you probably need to clean your player or buy a new one. Sources: Personal opinion .

Could be dirty.. could be humidity.. could be heat.. could be accessories.. Most likely it just needs to be cleaned. A few other possibilities would be: You may be have a short somewhere that is causing the player to error. Check the wiring for any kinked or damaged wires.

Does it make a difference if you turn on or off different accessories in the vehicle? It is possible the temperature fluctuations or vibrations generated from things like the air conditioner may be affecting the players functioning. Humidity may play a hand with a dirty CD player in way that might cause it to work well during certain humidity levels and badly during others.

First and foremost, I would get a kit to clean out the player and see if this fixes the problem. If that doesn't do the trick you may want to consider an aftermarket radio.. there are plenty inexpensive aftermarket radios on the market that sound considerably better than most stock radios. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
