I'm in the same situation as you, so I'd just like to share some knowledge. Check out SimonOxfPhys, Jamoe Mills and Jake Wright on YouTube. They've all been to/are at Oxbridge and have done Q&A's on how they got there, how long they worked, motivation, revision ideas and techniques and they're generally cool, interesting, entertaining guys in general!
I'd definately advise going through their channels, definately worth it in my eyes and it should help answer all of your questions you've listed (They have answers to all of those bullet points) I also believe a book was published called 'How to ACE your GCSE's'. This was inspired by past students' experiences. Now, I can't shed any light on what it's like because I haven't read it, nor can I guarantee it may answer your questions; but good reviews and general temptation are urging me to purchase it as it will probably have some good information.
Another point I'd like to make is to be careful on how many hours you spend revising. Don't overwork yourself and experience what is known as 'academic burnout'. Good luck in your GCSE's too!
:).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
