Trying to unclog ear, any suggestions?

Swimmer's ear is an external ear canal infection ("otitis externa") due to chronic moisture. Wax buildup can contribute to the moisture problem. The canal is painful, and antibiotic/steroid ear drops may be necessary.

An OTC treatment can be tried first-- avoid getting any more water in the ear; use an acidic solution to make the canal less likely to support bacterial growth- you can purchase an OTC "swimmer's ear" solution. If things don't improve, go to your practitioner. If the plugged feeling is more of a sinus/ear pressur: upon arising in the morning take a plain decongestant with a quart of water in the first hour after arising.

Then, drink another 6-8 cups of liquids during the day. You should have a response after doing this for a few days, in which your ears should unplug and sinuses drain. If not, try an antihistamine, but drink LOTS of fluids because antihistamines dry you out, which just dries up the junk in your sinuses even more.

Remember, thin secretions drain; dried crud lasts a long time! A plugged ear due to ear wax is best treated with hydrogen peroxide and an ear bulb. I also advise hydrogen peroxide, but I just use full strength.

As long as you are hearing the bubbling in your ear, either diluted or full strength is fine. Wait 15-30 minutes, with your head oriented a bit downward and the affected ear up. Its best to lie down on your bed with your head just a bit off the edge of the bed.

Be patient. The next step is to get a large bowl of very warm BUT not hot water. Use a nasal bulb (those rubber bulbs that you can get at the drug store), fill it with the warm water, lean into the sink with affected ear down.

Squirt slowly into your ear (make sure the water isn't too hot). This gets messy, so have towels around the sink. This process takes awhile, and more water than you think.

You eventually should get a nice blob of old wax (usually very dark and crusty- we nurse folk think this is wonderful fun! ). Caveat: this should only be done for an obstructed ear canal due to wax.

Ear wax in normal amounts is just that- normal. It serves to lubricate th ear canal and prevent bacteria from entering the inner ear. For more about ear wax symptoms and management, check out the links below.

Hope this helps!

How to Unclog Ears You Need Antihistamine Chewing Gum Hot Shower Method If you are suffering from clogged ears, try to swallow repetitively or chew a gum. At times, it helps in opening the tubes that go from the ears to the throat and results in unclogging of the ears. If the clogging is not too much, try to take a full breath of air and then hold it for a few seconds.

Now close your nose by pinching it and blow against it. It might help unclog the ears. Take a hot shower and after bathing, remain within the bathroom for at least 10 minutes.

The steam created from the bath might help you unclog the ears. In case of severe clogging of ears, you can make use of antihistamine also. Hydrogen Peroxide Method Boil some water and allow it to cool downtill it remains only warm.

Now, pour some of it in a bowl. Add hydrogen peroxide to the water, either in the same amount as the water or slightly lesser. Take an ear syringe and fill it with this solution.

Lie down on your side and pour the solution into your ear, with the help of the syringe. Keep lying down for 5 to 15 minutes. You will start hearing a bubbling sound in your ear.As soon as the bubbling sound stops, place an empty cup over the ear in which you put the solution and turn.

The melted wax will drain into the cup. Repeat with the other ear.

How to unclog a clogged ear... Take a small bowl, and add some warm water. Add an equal or slightly lesser amount of hydrogen peroxide. Fill the ear syringe with this mixture.

Lie on your side, and insert a small amount of the mixture into the affected ear with the syringe. (unaffected side to the "down side") Remain lying on your side for 5 to 15 minutes. You should be able to hear the Hydrogen Peroxide bubbling in your ear.

Place the second small bowl under your ear when the bubbling stops, and turn your head to drain the ear into the bowl. Refill the syringe, and with the bowl under your ear, squirt the mixture into your ear with a slight amount of pressure. You should be able to feel the pressure from the liquid, but don't squeeze the syringe so hard that it causes pain.

Repeat this step until you are out of the water/peroxide mixture.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor. The following should not be construed as medical advice... My mother had a wax build-up clogging her ear. Our doctor told her to put a few drops of oil (olive oil, vegetable oil, etc) in her ear every night before bed and use a cotton puff to keep the oil from running out.

He said it would take about 2 weeks to loosen up the blockage and then it should come out on its own.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
