Your question offers very limited information about your circumstances and his but $25,000 is a chunk of change to turn down! At first blush, I would say you did not do the right thing but I would also have to say that he didn't either. If there is anyway to revisit the scholarship situation, I would if I were you.
Honestly, it just seems kind of selfish on his part unless he has a good reason for you to stay there and not just because he wants you there!
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
