Vertical blinds are so "yesterday". What is a good window covering that lets in light but also gives privacy when you?

Ll see why high quality, real wood plantation shutters are the single most impressive window covering you can get. My mother in law has something like this and they are very useful.

Regular blinds seem to be back in fashion, here, or there's a fancy system with cloth shades - top half is translucent, bottom half is opaque - each half can expand to cover the whole window, so you can have translucent, or blackout, or split, or all up/down.

They are top down bottom up so that means they open from the top down and also from the bottom -- at the same time if one so chooses. The top down bottom up type shades come in a variety of textures and colors. You could also go with roman shades or with something like wooden shades-- I saw some teak shades recently that I liked.

Of course, we when replaced all those big old vertical blinds a couple of years ago (I think they must have been from the 80s or 90s) there was a reason we got mini blinds for most of the windows-- the cost. Sure, we thought the cellular shades were great and while it would have been nice to go with shades for all the windows, that would have been a good more expensive than the much more economical mini blinds. The neutral colored mini blinds are pretty inconspicious and I think we will likely add some light weight curtains with grommet tops.

One thing that I like about some of the cellular shades over things like mini blinds is that they can help filter light while letting some in. I don't know if this would be an issue with watching DVDs in the living room or if it is possible to layer shades or how that works. With mini blinds and curtains and so forth, one has to remember to constantly open and close blinds and adjust the angle of things to avoid the UV rays bleaching out the furniture.

Since replacing our frameless windows is out of the budget, I've also considered various heat/solar window films and outside awnings to help with those sorts of various issues, but those can also be quite pricey. Levalor has a chart on their website that compares cellular shades, roman shades, and natural material shades. Whatever you do decide to go with, I'd also shop around to find the best deal for your windows-- whether they are custom sized or standard.

If you are only doing one room and it isn't that large, then I'd probably splurge a bit and get what you really want.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
