The tweeter diaphragm is made of a very thin piece of aluminium (rather than cloth or plastic) shaped into a dome 20 mm or 25 mm across. Aluminium domes are used for our speakers for two reasons. Firstly, an aluminium dome gives the smoothest frequency response.
This means it is more accurate at reproducing the music you are listening to. Secondly, tweeters get hot and an aluminium dome is better at dissipating the heat. This means you can drive them harder without the risk of the voice coil melting.
