Time changes everything, at the moment the American nation is the dominate force, in the futher another power will rise and the world will have another major change. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans etc all had thier day, in the end time changes everything.
I do feel the people are corrupt at all levels of society in various different ways. Even the most progressive Americans can be made to sell out and turn conservative if offered a book deal. The loudest people in the US are protective over themselves and their own groups at the expense of others.
Corporations, fundamentally designed to exist for only a few years, are attempting to thrive into perpetuity--a mathematical impossibility. Most American citizens are ignorant on geography, science, English grammar, and history. Narcissism, fame, and celebrity are greater values than hard work or knowledge.
Others are Christian religious fanatics who want to destroy the world with air pollution and war in preparation for the Rapture. We have a military that is segregated from society that does not think twice about spending tax dollars into oblivion. Middle Americans like to live in ignorant bliss as our paramilitary organizations fund dictatorships that rape and pillage the third world.
Our press is worthless. Many law-abiding citizens are resentful and frightened people who want to see every stranger who enters their neighborhood thrown in jail.
Absolutely, and Franklin was not the only Founder to express similar sentiments. I think we are living in a perpetual state of denail at this point. Those who aren't in denial are simply apathetic, indifferent, or don't care so long as their welfare checks keep coming.
We are following in the footsteps of Rome and will collapse with a whimper like the Soviet Union. Perhaps we should have more history majors in Congress. All of the debates and arguments now are smoke and mirrors, glorified dog and pony shows.
We're polishing brass on the Titanic and it's all going down.
Franklin was extremely well educated, even by today's standards. He understood better than most of his time about the downsides to any potential governmental institution. Interpretation of democracy, creation and transition of authority (power), and increased population per representative have created a strain on our current system.
Despotism seems like a logical conclusion to a government that simply can not manage it's people - there's simply too many voices that would need to be heard for it to be run equitably. Instead of despotism, if we were to convert more authority to the state level, and expand government there, perhaps things would be more efficient.
EVERYTHING will one day fail. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. I find that many Christians put strong faith in the end of the world stuff but there's nothing interesting about that.
The world is going to end, but most likely not because of a character devoid of any evidence.
You do not have to be much of a psychic to say that. Every great nation falls sooner or later!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
