Actually, the oldest religions were the religions founded by the ancient Egyptians long before there was even a thought given to Judaism, Islam or any other ism. Granted, these religions took the form of idol worship, but strictly speaking, they preceded the others by at least 1000 years if you think of a "religion" as being a form of worship which was headed by someone, and in the case of the Egyptians, it was a priest of the Sun God or whoever was popular at the time. Going further back, you can conceivably go back about 10,000 years - give or take a couple of years - to the ancient civilizations which worshipped the sun and other dieties at a time when man was just beginning to walk on both legs instead of on all fours.

Since they had a leader that led the people in what passed for worship, that too would be considered a religion - long before any other. And, long before Judaism, there was the religion practiced by the ancient Sumerians who, along with the Egyptians, came up with the original flood story (in Sumeria, it was the Epic of Gilgamesh) which just goes to show that the Hebrew people weren't really all that original in their thinking......they had to steal one of their best stories from an earlier, more advanced society.

No one can truly advise you as to which religion to follow if you choose to follow one since everyone will have their own agenda. The only way you can truly make a determination as to whether or not you choose to follow a religion - and many people don't - is to study the various religious practices and teachings and find out which one - if any - works best for you. The Christians will tell you that their religion is the best because it offers you some sort of eternal reward for living a good and righteous life....the Jews will tell you that the best way is to follow the teachings in the Old Testament....the Muslims will tell you to follow Mohammed and his teachings and on and on.

One thing to remember is that almost all the stories (such as the story of Noah and the flood) are moralistic tales meant to teach a lesson in living to those who lived at that time and many - see Noah - are tales which are borrowed or outright stolen from other cultures. There is no right or wrong religion - despite what people will tell you - the right one is the one that gives you personal satisfaction and with which you feel most comfortable.

Not by a long shot. The earliest religion was the one that knew the Creator, but Nimrod invented a pagan set of gods and goddesses, and that was much more fun, so it became more popular. Islam is merely a re-working of Arabic paganism, which is a derivative of Babylonian paganism.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
