Best places to get a fair market estimate I have been thru this before and what I did was went to the B&H catalog (they have a website too) and located the exact model of my body, lenses, and meter. The insurance company took that market comparison as value and accepted it. If you need more than one estimate on value you have a couple of options.
You can pick up a copy of Popular Photography and find the listings for used cameras in the back or, if you have a used camera store nearby you can talk to them and they will usually give you a pretty fair appriasal for resale. Bear in mind all the options I am giving you are US dollars and US values, they might not be the same where you are so the used camera store may be the best avenue for you. Sources: experiance .
Go in to a good camera shop I assume that you want to know the value of these items for insurance purposes. An insurance company is unlikely to accept you submitting a claim based on the values that you gather from opinions on Askville and will demand something more official! Generally what happens is that you go in to a reputable camera shop (and it is helpful if the insurance company has dealt with them before) and you ask the shop to give you a quotation.
This quote will have the strength of a reputable dealer behind it and give it the credibility required. Try to have more precise information on the camera model and brand of lenses. Do you have receipts or guarantee cards still that would have more detail on them?
It will be harder to get what seems a fair replacement value on the 35mm camera and lenses due to digital all but obliterating the sales of 35mm and consequently the value of your equipment. Also, value may have some local variations. What might be worth $150 in New York city may be worth $225 in Alaska so you need to establish market value where you live.
Good luck with this! .
Go to a Camera shop Go to a popular Camera shop in your area, tell them what happened, then tell them the Model Numer, Name of Camera and how old it is. They should be able to tell you what it is worth, buy don't be surprised if it isn't worth much. Age takes a toll, on Humans ans Material things..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
