Anything by Mo Willems. As a teacher I just absolutely love him and the characters he creates.

This was such a great topic that I ended up writing two hubs on it and have a pile of books by my computer to write more hubs. Even better--I pulled out those favorite books and read them again to my kids. My husband and older son read them too!

Great books never get tiring: Here is Funniest Childrens books for early readers:hubpages.com/hub/Funniest-Childrens-Book... my very favorite children's book of all Hooray for Wodney Wat! :hubpages.com/hub/Funny-childrens-book-fo... got over a thousand books in our home library but all of us think the Wodney Wat book by Helen Lester is our favorite to read aloud. Thanks for the topic inspiration Jason!

The most loved was the "Kipper " the little dog series by Mick Inkpen (you got to love that name) - British, has over 30 books, and lots of movies and on-line stuff...good memory jogger...off to Hub-land now...rlw.

I lovelovelove Sandra Boynton: I think her books are equally as enjoyable for adults as they are for kids! hubpages.com/hub/Boynton-for-BedtimeI almost always buy Boynton books for new parents as baby gifts!

As a former junior school helper for five years I recognise that the level to pitch to in terms of reading ability of childrens stories is dependant upon the aptitude and attitude of each child. Some six year olds would be capeable of understanding words used in stories that some tweleve year olds could not. Our schools are crying out in the public sector to get our childrens' literacy skills improved.

Therefore there really is not a benchmark to aim for in terms of reading age with the story. I have started a childrens story of my own and would welcome any feedback on my hub:Peak District - Fandanzel. A fun story for children.
