First - Write everywhere and diversify - Second - if you find that a certain keyword or niche works - write about it from every angle.
Write from your heart. Write about things you love and know about. And for Pete's sake...quit worrying about who and how many are going to read your work.
Writing is about passion, not simply about making a buck. The most successful (at making money) writers stay true to their passion FIRST. This is the number one reason they succeed...and the number one reason "new" writers fail (by aiming for the dollar instead of their passions).
