First of, "manic-depression" is an antiquated term (from DSM-III). The current (DSM-IV-TR) terminology is "Bipolar Disorder" (and comes in two "flavors"... BP I and BP II). I HIGHLY recommend you talk to your prescribing Psychiatrist/Psychologist about the meds that don't have weight gain side-effects.

The biggest problem with meds are the side-effects. Another med might get rid of the weight gain, but have a different, more undesirable side-effect. Talk to the prescribing Psychiatrist/Psychologist about what meds would work for you and the side effects you'd like to try to avoid.

Unfortunately, there are a number of meds for Bipolar and I don't know which ones don't have weight gain as a side-effect. Did I mention that a Psychiatrist/Psychologist would know and be a good advocate for what works? EDIT: Found this article (an older article) about some meds that are of interest: http://www.psycheducation.org/hormones/Insulin/weightgain.htm.

I'm not a doctor, yet the best medication is no medication. Sometimes people who have manic depression should not be taking medication. They should get some counseling, yet they don't need medication that will cause them to gain weight.

You may want to watch the video about natural remedies. I'd look into any medication and talk to your doctor before taking any medication. Things to do instead: 1.

Practice Yoga and Meditation 2. Get exercise 3. Drink 8 glasses of water daily 4.

Get proper nutrition Nutrients that help include: B Complex B1 (Thiamin) B6 B12 Folic Acid Magnesium and Calcium Manganese Zinc L-Tyrosine L-Phenylalynine and DL-Phenylalynine Methionine L-Tryptophan and 5-Hydroxy-Tryptophan.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
