One of the better ones I can remember was Loop Labs, and it had some interesting mixing capabilities. I believe it may have taken a short break, but you could read about LoopLabs, as it has won some awards for its online mixing, such as the famous Webby Award. Since there have been some other great sites where you can find sound clips and mixing.
Soundsnap is a good one, to my knowledge, yet there are a few others you might want to check out. Here are some I recommend looking into. I like JamGlue, as it's a community and Virtual DJ seems very inviting as well.

SoftJock http://www.softjock.com SoftJock is for the professional, providing professional Computer DJ Software and MP3 Audio Tools. There is an interesting collection of software here. There are plenty of sources. Here are two that I have indirectly used in the past. #1 producerpack.com/ This one has free samples, subscription service for regular updates, pay&download sound packs, and some really nice loops.
#2 partnersinrhyme.com/ Partners in Rhyme has a decent collection of loops, samples, instruments, and sound effects. I really like their collection of Human Sound Effects (check out crying and screaming. ) Here's an often overlooked Google search tip.
If you find a search result you like, e.g. Soundsnap. Com, click on "Similar Pages" link under the result. You'll get helpful results.
Hope this helped.
I like Flash Kithttp://www.flashkit.com/loops/They have free loops, sound effects, It takes a lot of digging, but I've found quite a few loops I've used for movies & presentations. (The top 100 list is not to my liking, but the ambient and jazz categories have some good intro/outro loops, ambient stuff too. )Don't give up paging thru the hundreds of files, because there are a lot of really good loops.
When you can find it, sometimes Sony Creative gives away loop CDs & DVDs as an offer to try their pay (royalty free) service. sonycreativesoftware.com/loops/premiumco... seems to cater to people who author commercial DVDs, training material, training Cds, etc. The files are high quality. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/audio/drfink%2Fclavinet%2004.wavSampleshttp://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/audio/endlessflow%2Fbeat%2002.wavhttp://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/audio/sfxseries6%2Fwhoosh%20by%2001.wav.
I've got over 300 high quality free loops available for download at loopartists.com.
I really like opuzz.com/. That's one of my first go to places. So far great cinematic, film style stuff which I can't find anywhere else for my film use that had that big sound.
Of course they have all sorts of music styles too. Aside from that you can try so many other sites by just searching google "royalty free music" or 'background music' could do it too. soundsnap.com is great for sound effects or maybe you could try http://www.sound-effects-library.com.
Good luck!
For sound effects I highly recommend Sound Dogs -- which is practically a sound effects search engine which also has a loops section.
Here are a few of my favorites for royalty free music and sound effects. Sound-effect. Comhttp://www.sound-effect.com/Search for, preview and download royalty free sound effects for immediate use in your multimedia project.
A one-time fee gives you a lifetime license for use in as many of your projects as you need.Musicloops. Comhttp://www.musicloops.com/Over 15,000 Royalty free music loops and full length tracks for preview and immediate download. All music is hand picked so there is no sub-par music to wade through while searching.
Partners In Rhymehttp://www.partnersinrhyme.com/A huge catalog of royalty free music libraries for you to download and start using right away in your commercial projects. No ASCAP or BMI hassles.
I'd say check out Soundrangers soundrangers.com I use them regularly because they have a fantastic selection of usable sfx and music and it's easy to move through the site. There's a small license fee for each sfx but the sound quality is worth it and you don't have to mess with any licensing weirdness.
My favorite place for Sound Effects is Digital Sound Effects digital-sound-effects.com Other places for Sound Effects are: powerpoint-resources.com/sound-effects.htm Where to Locate Sound Effects: small-business-software.net/where-to-loc....
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
