What are some tips for beginning cooks?

Although there are many websites to go to for cookbook reviews, the website, Serious Eats: seriouseats.com/talk/2009/04/the-best-co..., offers a thread where this question is discussed. However, there are a couple of cookbooks that are tried and true goto guides for the beginning cook, The Joy of Cooking and the Betty Crocker Cookbook. Both of these books have been around for a number of years and one of the biggest reasons why is because they are both comprehensive.

Most people can make most of the recipes in the book because they are simple with easy to find ingredients and step by step cooking instructions. My advice to the new cook is to purchase one of these books and attempt one recipe per week. If you begin with one recipe it will not overwhelm you and you will build confidence in your abilities.

I think the biggest mistake beginning cooks make is that they tend to overcook things. Again, once you build confidence and get more experience under your belt, you will know how long things take to cook.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
