What are some truly UNUSUAL Classic Film Noir's you recommend?

I have seen a ton of Film Noir's, and I am looking for some unusual ones that I may not have of seen yet. Mention a couple that you feel are pretty hard to find, and chances are I probably haven't heard of it. Thanks!

Night Nurse-1931/The Crimson Kimono-1959 I saw Night Nurse at a Barbara Stanwick film festival Now I know you may think Stanwyck means soap and it is way outside the 40’s-50’s peak of film noir. But If you define film noir as moral ambiguity in crime films with a gritty realistic black and white style this one works. Also I think of the Cagney and Robinson, etc gangster films of the 30’s as noirish.

The story starts as Stanwyck goes to nursing school. Some of the prettier students aren’t planning to be angels of mercy but to snag a husband-either a doctor or a rich patient. They discuss this a lot in their underwear in the nurse’s quarters.

The message is follow orders, keep your mouth shut and keep your eyes open for a chance to move up. On her first job she finds a crime unfolding. The Dr is involved, nobody will believe her and if she tries to tell her life will be in danger.

Should she shut up and get paid or should she do the right thing? Clark Gable plays a great bad guy and Joan Blondell is the friend who is no help deciding. The Crimson Kimono changed my life.

I saw it when I was 12, it was the second half of a double bill and I can’t remember what the top of the bill was. I only know from that day forward when I thought of my future husband, he looked like James Shigeta. James Shigeta and Jim Corbett are war buddies who work out of LA homicide.

They are on the case of a murdered stripper. One of the people involved is a woman who may be hiding something and before you know it we have a biracial love triangle. Remember this was 1960 and race was everywhere.

Of course 10 years later I married an Asian man. Galileogirl's Recommendations Night Nurse (1931) Amazon List Price: $19.98 Used from: $19.00 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5 (based on 11 reviews) I couldn't find The Crimson Kimono on Amazon but Night Nurse will be on TCM on Dec 12 .

La Mala educación- Bad Education This was a definately unusual but it was very good. It's about two boyhood friends. They are both brought up in a religous school were one of the preists is a pedifile.

The film is so sad but so beautiful, I reccommend it to everyone. Vêëçìóü§'s Recommendations Bad Education (Original Uncut NC-17 Edition) Amazon List Price: $19.94 Used from: $9.94 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 66 reviews) .

2 I was looking at the term "film noir" as a movie with a dark and sad overall feeling to it. In which a main male character is pulled into something shady by a female character. The character Enrique is pulled in by a beautiful (in this case transvestite) woman, Angel who manipulates him and uses him.

The ending is not a happy one.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
