South Africa is officially a non-racial and non-sexist society. The recognised racial groups though are whites, black Africans, coloureds (people of mixed ancestry) and Asians. So in the official census which is held every five years (one coming up next year 2011) the questionnaire asks which of these four "race" groups the respondent belongs to.
Since there is really only one race, i.e. The human race, there are many of us in South Africa who believe this practice should be stopped.
You will find representatives of all race groups and all the major religions of the world in South Africa amongst South Africa's population all living under the protection of one of the most liberal constitutions in the world in a democaracy that has elections once ever 5 years. There are 11 official different language groups based on the indiginous peoples who have lived there for centuries. The language of business and government is invariably English.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
